Treadmills can help lower your cholesterol

Almost anyone is aware of the fact that you can make yourself healthier by doing regular exercise. It is a common fact that aerobic exercise has a lot of health benefits like lowering your cholesterol and even strengthening your heart. This is something that might come new to most of the people reading this, and those who knew this were just waiting for studies to be published on the matter.

Since most of the health gurus and even doctors praise that low intensity aerobics are the best and only way to improve your cardiovascular health, some of the fitness gurus and strength coaches around the world are finding different results. Using a treadmill to run or walk for two hours can break a sweat, but with that low intensity your heart is barely doing more than while resting.

Recent studies show that doing a high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout can greatly increase the amount of HDL cholesterol in your blood within a very short period of time. That will eventually decrease you cholesterol levels. Using an electric treadmill for this purpose is easy as you can simply adjust the speed of the belt or the incline of the machine.

A HIIT workout consists of very short bursts lasting up to 30 seconds, followed by low intensity periods lasting up to a minute. The workout itself takes only from ten to twenty minutes to complete and you can be sure that you are exhausted when complete. Walking for as long as three hours will never be even near this kind of workouts.
